Holy Saturday 2017
There is a very real sense about 'waiting at the empty tomb' about this celebration which occurs during sunset on Easter Eve. The new Paschal Candle is lit from the Paschal Fire, the light from which burns in the church throughout the coming year before we hear in readings and Psalms the history of our salvation. Most wonderfully, those who have prepared for baptism are then baptised in the newly blessed font before the first Mass of Easter is celebrated. We followed this celebration with fireworks!
