Our Patronal Statue
The image of any patron is important as a reminder
to us all of who our Patron is and why he or she lived a life worthy of
sainthood. You can find out more about Saint Aidan in other
parts of this website. Our image of Saint Aidan (seen here where it lives on the south wall of our church) has always been processed through
the streets on the day of our Patronal Festival during Vespers and
Benediction. However in 2012, there was a disaster when the image
fell from the bier on which it was being carried and shattered
on the floor. Below are some pictures of the damage!
We can now announce that the new image is on its way and will be blessed for our use at the Patronal Festival, Saturday 31st August 2013, by The Rt Rev'd Martin Warner, Bishop of Chichester.
